Why Central Florida is a Great Place to Live

I moved to Orlando from Connecticut in 2019.  While New England has some of the most quaint fall and winter landscapes you’ll ever see, the Sunshine state offers advantages that our family could not resist. We absolutely love it here!

Central Florida is often a top contender when people think about relocating to the Sunshine State. From its warm climate to its endless entertainment options, there’s so much to love about this dynamic region. Whether you’re drawn by the bustling job market, the world-class attractions, or the vibrant lifestyle, Central Florida offers a little bit of something for everyone. If you’re on the fence about moving to this incredible region, here are six reasons to make Central Florida your next home:

Great weather all year long: One of the main attractions of Central Florida is its sunny climate. With mild winters and hot summers, it’s a perfect escape from colder northern states. Average temperatures range from the mid-60s in winter to the high 80s or low 90s in summer. Central Florida residents enjoy sunny days year-round, with occasional rainfall to cool things off. If you love spending time outdoors (especially taking long walks like I love to do), this central Florida is paradise!

Outstanding attractions and entertainment: If you’re a fan of entertainment and excitement, Central Florida is the place to be. Orlando, the heart of the region, is home to some of the most famous theme parks in the world, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. But even beyond the parks, you’ll find plenty of things to do—shopping at high-end outlets, catching shows and concerts, or exploring the many museums, art galleries, and performing arts venues. Whether you’re single, a couple, or have a family, you’ll never be short on things to explore.

Affordable Cost of Living: Compared to other parts of Florida, like Miami or the Gulf Coast, Central Florida offers a more affordable cost of living. Housing prices are lower, and you can find a wide variety of homes in different price ranges. Whether you’re looking for a charming condo, a modern townhouse, or a sprawling suburban home, there’s something for every budget. Moreover, Central Florida’s lower property taxes and no state income tax make it financially attractive to residents.

Family-Friendly Communities and Great Schools: For families, the Central Florida area is home to a number of highly-rated public and private schools.  There are excellent educational institutions across the region, making it a great choice for families with children. Additionally, many neighborhoods are designed to be family-friendly, with parks, bike trails, playgrounds, and community events throughout the year. Central Florida is a fantastic place to raise a family, with a strong emphasis on education and community values.

Thriving Job Market: Central Florida is known for its flourishing job market. Orlando has grown into a significant hub for the tourism and hospitality industries, but that’s not all. The area has become increasingly attractive to businesses in technology, healthcare, and aerospace. Companies like Lockheed Martin, Siemens, and numerous startups have established a presence in the region, creating a diverse and growing job market. Whether you’re looking for work in tech, entertainment, education, or healthcare, Central Florida has opportunities for many skill sets and career paths.

The Great Outdoors Awaits: In addition to its sunny weather, Central Florida offers an abundance of outdoor activities. From the crystal-clear springs of the Wekiva River to the nature trails of the Black Bear Wilderness Loop, there are countless opportunities to explore Florida’s natural beauty.  Our communities are active and take full advantage of our access to nature.  In almost every neighborhood, you’ll find walkers, bikers, and runners alike.  For those who enjoy boating, fishing, and water sports, you’ll find plenty of lakes and rivers to enjoy. Not to mention, you’re just a short drive away from beaches on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts—whether you prefer the waves of the east or the serene Gulf waters.

BONUS: A Diverse and Welcoming Community: Whether you’re drawn by the vibrant culture, the affordability, or the incredible weather, Central Florida has a lot to offer. With its world-class attractions, growing job market, and family-friendly communities, it’s no wonder so many people are choosing to call this region home. If you’re thinking about making the move, the opportunities and lifestyle here might be just what you’ve been searching for!
